Oh Tabitha, I love this so much. Ever since I've moved to NYC I'm constantly go go go and so distracted and stimulated. I love the idea of slowing down and paying attention to what happens, it's so hard lol, I try to put my phone on do not disturb more these days...

Always love reading your words. I have found both morning pages and Friend’s meeting very soothing to my creative spark. There is a lot of noise and input in our days in the modern world. It is good to let some of it fall away from time to time.

you are gifted with the art of words and the art of creating. "trying to write a story, but trying to sit still" sounds like the title of your autobiography. one day i hope you write out your life's story for others to experience and learn from. i learn something each time you write stories such as this one.

I have some of your 9-year old writings and they are amazing. Some are unfinished and I have always hoped you’d write the endings!

I love The War of Art too. Highly recommend it. And I like that some chapters are only two sentences long. “I can write a whole chapter today!”

This was great to read! I want to start doing morning pages too, glad they are going well!

Have you read the War of Art by Steven Pressfield? It is a very short read and has a similar lean into a 'Divine' source of inspiration — but the metaphor that's really helpful from it is the personification of 'Resistance' as a creative block. Really recommend it!

As someone with some similar tendencies -- I wrote a lot as a kid and some as an undergrad and entirely stopped in my twenties, and I also struggle with focus and attention -- this piece resonated a whole lot. The Artist’s Way, despite Julia’s woo tendencies (also sometimes she just says some ridiculous things) rekindle my creative desires last year in a way that has felt highly meaningful. I’ve stopped doing morning pages but this is reminding me I probably should do them some days!

Do you find that your writing is informed by your other art making? Do you expect them to interact in some way or are you not expecting anything at this point?
